In looking for a tiny suit for Sam & Megan's wedding, our neighbor had one. Unfortunately, it's too tiny.
The shirt has button holes that are supposed to match up with buttons on the inside of the pants. Notice there's a very big gap between the two.
But maybe just the tie and vest will work, Chippendale style.
But part of me wants to sing "Fat guy in a little coat. Fat guy in a little coat!"

Photo of the Day
Nick started this Psychiatry clerkship this week. The tree-trimmers for the power company were here behind the house today. They had me move my car from our little drive way. That's fine. What I'm not OK with is when I came back home they had left a city dumpster in front of the drive way.

Busy Day
Henry and I were gone practically all day.
We had a two-hour service appointment at the Ford dealership to have the transmission fluid changed. (Is your car's fluid due for a change?)
Then we started to gather everything we need for Sam's wedding. Nick has a suit, it just needs to be picked up at Dillard's, but Henry and I had nothing. We both needed something navy to wear to the wedding, and Henry also needed white shoes to be blessed in.
After the Ford dealership we went to:
Finder's Keepers (Children's Clothing)
Toys R Us, thinking there was also a Babies R Us there, but there wasn't.
Marshall's (I'm also looking for a diaper bag)
Home Depot (herbs)
Walmart (lots of stuff to get)
Quik Trip
[South County Mall]
Payless Shoes
a children's formal wear store with a funny name
Macy's
JC Penneys
And another Marshall's. A couple friends have found great diaper bags there, but being there when they have any in stock is like winning the lotto.
I gave up on getting Henry a suit. It would look so cute if he matched Nick, but the smallest suit was far to long in the limbs for him. Instead, I got him a polo style onesie and khaki pants. As simple as this outfit sounds, it took forever to find and a long time for me to make up my mind.
I found a dress, but this Penney's didn't have it in my size, and it's out of stock online. So, tomorrow after I go to the doctor's and take the dog to the groomer, I'm going out to the West County mall to pick up the dress there. And I still need to get Nick's suit.
Henry did great all day, except for a total baby meltdown as I was checking out at JC Penney. He was screaming so hard he turned completely red. As soon as I was done checking out, he stopped crying.

More of Our Visit
Henry and I extended our Utah visit a couple of days. We had planned on returning home Tuesday, but getting there had been so much work we stayed until Thursday. That extra 40-something hours allowed us to introduce Henry to a lot of great people he wouldn't have seen otherwise. We were both introduced to Sara's brand new baby G. Sara and my due dates were only two days apart, but our babies were born six weeks apart. It was so fun to see G in person finally.
We stopped by Nana's for an afternoon visit.
We went to Wheadon Lane, where Henry got to meet Aunt Norma, my Grandpa Wayne's sister. Visiting the lane was so much fun. We went there a lot when I was a little kid, but less and less as time went on. Wheadon Lane is my mom's cousins, who all live on a small private street in front of their working farm. I need to make a list in his journal of all the people he met on this great trip. Also, a shout-out to Wendy and her two one-year-olds. They were so cute.

Over All Too Soon
It seems like we just arrived, but Henry and I are getting ready to go back home to St. Louis tomorrow. We've been pretty busy, because Henry has been very popular. He has now met all six of his grandparents, and one of his four living great-grandparents. His uncle Sean (above) almost had to be bribed to hold him. The only aunt/uncle Henry still needs to be introduced face to face is Samantha and Kyle, who we are hoping will make it to his baby blessing. They've seen him on Skype, but it's not quite the same.
Henry is shown here relaxing with Uncle Sam. Today Henry threw up all over Sam, so now they've really bonded.
My paternal grandmother Joyce holding Henry.
My cousin Kristy holding Henry at my mom's house.
Not pictured- we had a wonderful visit with Nana (Debbie), Mitch and Brian. Henry met Dallas, Shannon and their boys V & O. H loved being held by Jo Ellen.

Sleeping baby
I put a sleeping baby on my mom's bed to nap. A few minutes later, the
three phones in her bedroom rang and woke him up. Now I'm holding him
on the couch, but of I get up it will wake him up.

We're Off- I Guess
Henry and I are off on our first big adventure together. Today we're leaving to spend the weekend in Salt Lake. I'm finding it difficult to pack for both of us, since I was barely competent to pack for myself before. The good news is there are stores where we're going, so as long as I have everything I need for the plane ride, a trip to KMart will fix the rest.
He's generally a good baby, but remember, all babies cry. So I'm hoping we'll have a good flight.

Redneck Radio
Ever since the radio was stolen out of the Honda, Nick has needed to improvise for his commuter entertainment. Problem solved: the 2nd generation iPod has a speaker. Nick selects some music and puts the iPod in his shirt pocket for his listening pleasure. As long as you never need a traffic update, you'd never miss the radio.

Last Weekend
I'm a little behind on the blogging- I've been busy. Last weekend we had quite the groups of visitors. On Friday, Harry and Lucy came. Their primary motivation to come was to see the Taylor Swift concert. They also made it to a Cardinals vs. Cubs ballgame. Oh, yeah, and they visited us and met Henry. Right after they got here, we went to the Botanical Gardens. It was beautiful as usual. That night they went to the game, but didn't stay long because Harry doesn't like baseball and they had bad seats. Happy Birthday Harrison!
Then Saturday another group arrived. Doug, Linette, Liz and Kate showed up in the afternoon. The first stop was for the girls to get their eyebrows threaded at the Galleria mall. We then did a drive-by participation in the ward birthday party. The reason they flew here was to drive the former cop car to Florida, where Liz is working for Disney during the summer. The cop car was hauled here by my dad the day after Henry was born. It came on the back of a load of freight and has been parked in front of our place for a month. My two sisters and my dad started out for Florida the next morning. My mom got to stay with me, which I really liked.
It was Liz's first visit to St. Louis while we've lived here. It was totally a drive-by visit. Liz, I expect you to come again and stay longer. How about when you drive the cop car back to Utah at the end of the summer?

Med School Wives Pottery Class
Some of the Med School Wives
Our Teacher Rachel
A couple weeks ago I went to a Med School Wives event held at a local pottery shop. One wife, Rachel, a potter and artist, and taught us the fine art of attempting to make pottery without really succeeding. When she did it, it looked almost effortless. With my first attempt, I had water and clay spinning around in Chaos in no time. By the end of the session, each of us made a piece to take home (my piece heavily relied on Rachel's help.) We'll get to pick up our stoneware works of art after they've been glazed and fired.
